Cloth that waited eighty years
Deadstock is fabric that was woven, rolled and stored, then never used. Ours comes from old Spanish stock: striped cotton ticking and woven jacquards from the 1940s, and printed canvas from the decades after.
Ticking was made to cover mattresses and pillows, so the weave is tight and the stripes are woven in, not printed. Today that same cloth becomes cushions, curtains, chair seats and bags.
When a bolt is gone, it is gone. We cannot find the same one again.
Each fabric is photographed in natural light, so the colours you see are the colours you get. If you want a closer look before you buy, ask us on Etsy.
- Ticking
- Dense cotton with woven stripes, first made for mattress covers.
- Jacquard
- The pattern is woven into the cloth on a jacquard loom, so it shows on both sides.
- Deadstock
- Original old stock that was never cut, sewn or used.
